Crackers Comedy Club Downtown is excited to have Rory Albanese gracing our stage from Wednesday Oct 23 – Saturday Oct 26. We’ll be there and so should you! Joining Rory will be comedian, Bill Gibson.
Rory Albanese is the former Executive Producer and Writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Having been a key part of The Daily Show for over a decade, Rory has won 9 Primetime Emmy Awards and is currently creating an original situation comedy for CBS.
Outside his television career Rory is an accomplished stand-up comedian; beyond touring the country as a headliner he has been a featured performer on John Oliver’s New York Comedy Show on Comedy Central and starred in his own Comedy Central half hour special in 2010. He spends his free time keeping the streets of New York City safe by employing the lost art of ‘Vigilante Justice’.
Les and Jane Dunkleman were the proud parents of nine children….and then Brian was born. Due to a desire to have his parents one day address him by the correct name, Brian started doing stand up comedy in 1992. That year he won the “Buffalo’s Funniest New Comedian Contest”. Granted, the contest was voted on by the audience and he brought 50 people with him, but that’s not important….the point is, he never looked back.
Since then, he’s performed at HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, on the “Tonight Show”, NBC’s “Late Friday”, and TBS’s ”Very Funny at the Laugh Factory”.
He has had acting roles on several hit television shows such as “FRIENDS”, “3RD ROCK FROM the SUN”, “THAT 70’s SHOW”, “GHOST WHISPERER”, “NYPD BLUE”, and “LAS VEGAS”.
He was the voice of SANFORD on the MTV animated series “3 SOUTH”, as well as characters on “FAMILY GUY” and “PROUD FAMILY”.
He hosted the first season of “AMERICAN IDOL”, and knowing full well the show would never last, decided to continue to pursue his dream of breaking the record for pilots that never make the air.
He was also the host of the syndicated television show “AMERICAN IDOL REWIND” and is a regular host of “Family Feud Live” in Atlantic City for Fremantle Media. He recently guest starred on two episodes of the NBC hit show “MY NAME IS EARL”, which was then abruptly canceled.
He can be seen doing stand up regularly in Los Angeles at the Laugh Factory and Improv, as well as comedy clubs all over the country. He also just had a comedy special air on SHOWTIME. Check out his comedy here!
Bret Ernst headlines the top clubs across the country and has earned the sought after honor of marquee status on the Sunset Strip. He’ll be with us at our downtown club from Wed – Sat October 9 through October 12.
Bret can be seen in his own 1/2 hour Comedy Central Presents special, which aired April 16, 2010. He was most recently seen on the BET series ONE MIC STAND & the SHOWTIME series COMICS WITHOUT BORDERS. He also recently starred in the feature film VINCE VAUGHN’S WILD WEST COMEDY SHOW, now out on DVD. The film documents Ernst with Vaughn & 3 other comedians as they perform to sold out crowds in a 30 night 30 venue tour across America.
Bret was a recurring character on the hit SHOWTIME series WEEDS, and has guest starred on CSI: NY. He appeared in Artie Lang’s movie, BEER LEAGUE & hosted the series WRESTLING SOCIETY X on MTV. His stand up has been featured on THE LATE LATE SHOW on CBS, & on COMEDY CENTRAL’S PREMIUM BLEND. He has made celebrity appearances on THE CHELSEA LATELY SHOW/E!, COMICS UNLEASHED/ABC, E!’s TOP TEN and THE SPORTS LIST/FOX. Born in New Jersey, Bret went to high school at Plantation High in South Florida, played collegiate level football at C.W. Post in New York, and currently resides in LA.

Crackers Comedy Club Downtown is excited to present Eric Blake from Wednesday August 28 through Sunday August 31. The most significant challenge for the modern comedian is their ability to relate to a variety of audiences. Eric Blake has taken this challenge to heart, expanding his material beyond the African-American lens, and identifying with many other cultures and experiences. He is one of the few performers who can truly be labeled as a “universal comedian,” defying comedic normality. Blake’s raw talent is also distinguished by his ability to custom-fit his comedy for the particular moment. This witty improvisation can be revealed at the drop of a hat, bringing new characters to life.
This engaging comic has proven his worth night after night, performing to diversified audiences from coast to coast. Some of his performances include NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” HBO’s “Bad Boys of Comedy,” BET’s “Comic View,” in which he has aired on “The Best of Comic View” for the fourth consecutive year. He has also been televised on Galavision’s “Que Loco,” where he has displayed his cross-cultural abilities that have earned him a devote Latino following. Furthermore, Blake performed as the headliner for the comedy hit entitled “War On Comedy,” which aired on HBO and has recently been released on video. Eric’s acclaimed notoriety lead HBO to choose him among thousands to film a documentary on the eight most up and coming comedians in the country, which aired in the fall of 2012. In addition, he has appeared on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and has performed overseas for USO and Armed Forces Entertainment in Japan, Greece, Europe, Spain, Diego Garcia, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Baghdad. Eric Blake is also part of Big Boy’s Neighborhood the nationally syndicated radio show on Power 106 and is part of the Chocolate Sundaes Comedy series which is currently airing on Showtime.
Eric is a survivor of the notorious streets of South Central Los Angeles, where he experienced the “hard knock” life of gangs, drugs, and violence. It was eventually the depraved life on the streets that propelled him on a search for meaning and purpose, where he began to rediscover his passion and talent in comedy. As a young teenager, Eric brought life to people through his spontaneous and lighthearted humor, and considered it pure joy when he was able to enliven another’s spirit through a simple joke. Blake’s challenged upbringing led to his rediscovery for purpose: bringing laughter to the soul. This newfound purpose continues to be exercised with the firm belief of the old Proverb, “a happy heart doeth good like medicine.”
Eric currently resides in Los Angeles, and when he isn’t performing his time is spent cultivating the blessings of family. Above all, as Blake rises to the pinnacle of comedy, he will never forget the place where he has come from. Check out an example of what you’re in for!
Crackers Downtown is happy to present comedians, James Ervin Berry and John Burton at our Downtown location from Wednesday August 14 through Saturday August 17.
James Ervin Berry‘s likable personality, “down-to-earth” attitude and fun loving nature generates big laughs! He’s a comedian who LOVES making an audience laugh…and it shows! Whether it’s Comedy Clubs, Colleges, Churches, Corporate Events or Festivals his target is always the same–Funny Bones! Foot stompin’, hand clappin’, smile on your face laughter!!
James Ervin Berry’s comedic style has been described as “observational, with an educated homespun feel.” His “boy next door” charm creates an instant connection with mainstream audiences nationwide. Check him out!
John Burton’s comedy blends real-life anecdotes and gut-busting one-liners with a rapid-fire, highly animated delivery that has been thrilling audiences throughout the U.S. for the past ten years. Initially influenced by legendary jokesmiths like Dave Attell, John’s style has recently evolved to include a more candid focus, audience interaction, and even an occasional rant. With a fast paced style that can veer from sarcastic to self-deprecating to almost absurd, it’s hard to believe John is a former attorney who specialized in tax law.
What’s the quickest way to jump from being an attorney to being a comedian? Get fired. After a year with a Big Four accounting firm, John was told that he works slowly and makes tons of mistakes. “Good thing I don’t work faster – I’d be messing up way more stuff,” he responded. In this dry retort, an attorney died and a comedian was born. Freed from “normal life, John opted for the road less traveled by moving to Chicago and immersing himself in the improvised comedy scene.
John’s act consists of mostly PG-13 material that could be heard on virtually any late night television show. A versatile performer, he has opened for squeaky clean acts such as Heywood Banks and more adult-oriented comics such as the late Robert Schimmel. Audience members often rave about how they enjoyed both his verbal timing and funny facial expressions, which John takes as testimony to the fact that he can connect with his audience on multiple levels.
Snatch up your tickets as soon as you can! This duo is going to be totally rock star. Get your tickets here.
