Crackers Comedy Club Broad Ripple Welcomes Dan Davidson

Crackers in Broad Ripple is thrilled to have comedian, Dan Davidson, joining us the last weekend on January from Wed January 29 – Sat February 1.

Recognized as one of the top comedians by comedy clubs across the country and hailed by critics as one of the sharpest and wittiest live performers in the business. Davidson’s material is packed with provocative witticisms and edgy undertones. He hits the stage with an instant likability and draws the audience in with his charm. He has the rare ability to put people at ease while interacting with an audience resulting in the Chicago Sun-Times to say “quick with the audience, …everybody laughed”. His confidence inspired the Indianapolis Star to say “A natural, …sexy”.

Dan Davidson recently had the pleasure of performing for the troops based in the Middle East on the Red, White and a little Bluer tour. He has appeared on Comedy Central – Short Attention Span Theater, Fox – A Night of Comedy. He has been a guest numerous times on the nationally syndicated The Bob and Tom Show and his material has been aired on satellite radio. Davidson has worked with a wide range of performers such as David Alan Grier, Brett Butler, Bobby Slayton, Kevin Pollack, Bryan Callen and opened for musical acts such as The Counting Crows and The Wallflowers.

Davidson has sharpened his comedic timing and live performances through his 4,000 plus shows which keeps him in high demand.

He is a regular at The Improvs, Funny Bones, Catch A Rising Stars, Zanies and many other independent comedy clubs. He has made numerous appearances for charities, festivals, casinos and corporate groups.

Dan Davidson is a talent to be reckoned with. In a relatively short time Dan has become a comedy club favorite across the country. Since his humor wasn’t welcome at Purdue University, Dan decided to make his observational sarcasm work in his favor. This shy boy mustered up the nerve to hit an open mic night at the local comedy club and his talent didn’t go unnoticed. Shortly thereafter, Dan won the regional Johnny Walker comedy competition and was doing stand-up full time. His midwestern likeabliliy matched with his biting improvisational skills put him on the comedy world map. Don’t mess with Double D. He has also acted in several national commercials. His compact disc has been played on satellite radio. He has also written humorous articles in nationally magazines. Check him out!

Crackers Comedy Club Presents Big Jay Oakerson

BR_BigJayOakerson_poster

Crackers Comedy Club in Broad Ripple is excited to present Big Jay Oakerson from Wed Jan 22 – Sat Jan 25 at our Broad Ripple club.

Comedian Big Jay Oakerson currently has a new full length, digital-only album, “An American Storyteller” on Comedy Central Records. Oakerson’s story-based style of stand-up comedy got its start after a series of dead-end jobs, including driving strippers and escorts around his hometown of Philly.

Now the New York City resident has made comedy his full-time job, flooring audiences with true tales of odd threesomes and bizarre sexual encounters. “An American Storyteller,” recorded at Stand-Up New York, is a one-hour onslaught of unbridled awesomeness and raunchy rock n’ roll hilarity.

Oakerson is recognized from many of his television appearances, most recently on the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon and his starring role on the hit IFC show “Z-Rock,” where he received critical acclaim for his performance as “Neil,” the sexually ambiguous owner of a NYC rock club. His television credits include Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” “Comedy Central Presents,” and “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn,” along with multiple appearances on BET’s “Comic View” and HBO’s “P. Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy. ”

The past summers for Jay have been busy ones — he performed stand-up comedy for over a quarter of a million screaming rock n’ roll fans by hosting Jager’s Korn tour and Rock Star Energy Drink’s Mayhem Fest. Jay wowed for a fourth time at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, performing on (and closing) the “Nasty Show” — a festival favorite — and took his performance to a whole new level with the debut of his solo show “The American Storyteller.”

Crackers Comedy Club Broad Ripple Present Kristin Key

br_NewYearsEve_poster

When you think comedy, comedian, Kristin Key should be one person who pops into your mind immediately! She’s amazing, and we’re thrilled to have her for our New Year’s Eve and then through the weekend. A little bit about Kristin:

When Last Comic Standing season 4 held their auditions in Austin, Texas. (like every other Texas comic) she stood in line hoping for a chance to be seen. After 7 hours of waiting, she got her chance and she shined. She got her ticket to Hollywood and the chance to compete against the best of the best in the comedy world. Her years as a road comic paid off, and as the episodes aired, her fan base exploded.

After being seen by millions of comedy fans on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, she moved to Los Angeles and has continued to utilize opportunities in radio, television, writing, and live performance. Kristin’s writing was regularly featured in Life & Style Magazine’s Style Slip-up section. She currently has two full-length comedy CDs “Where The Cab Takes You” and “Buckle Up”, which have been nationally distributed through Uproar Records, and is scheduled to record her third in March of 2013. She continued to appear on television shows such as Comics Unleashed and multiple episodes of VH- 1’s 100 Greatest Series. Kristin is frequent guest on the nationally broadcast Bob and Tom show and is often played on Sirius and XM Satellite Radio for her own specials as well as radio shows including National Lampoon Comedy and The Comedy Channel. Of course, she still blazes across the country performing live in comedy clubs and universities leaving audiences in stitches wherever she goes.

Although she now calls L.A. home, she still has that small town point of view with a polished rapid-fire delivery that keeps audiences howling. She grew up musically inclined and, perhaps as a last act of rebellion against her strict upbringing, incorporated the guitar into her comedy. With the blend of music, comedy, and her spontaneous sense of humor anything can happen and no two shows are the same. Much has changed from the dusty west Texas town of Amarillo to the bright lights of L.A. but the one thing that hasn’t changed is that fast-paced quick witted comedy that has kept audiences rolling in the aisles from the beginning and keeps getting better.

Crackers Comedy Club Broad Ripple Welcomes Greg Warren

Crackers Comedy Broad Ripple is excited to bring you Greg Warren from Wednesday 12/11 – Saturday 12/14.

Greg Warren, most recently seen on “Comedy Central Presents”, “The Late Late Show” and “Last Comic Standing”, has been building a strong fan base around the country with his act inspired by stories from his Midwestern upbringing. His newly released CD “One Star Wonder” (Comedy Central Records) hit the ground running as #6 in iTunes TOP Comedy Albums (June 2009) and together with Greg’s colorful perspective and amazing characters, is destined to be a favorite. Greg attracts a diverse audience spectrum, performing on networks such as BET (as a finalist on “Coming to the Stage”)Country Music Television’s “Comedy Stage”. and Greg is also a favorite on the nationally syndicated “Bob and Tom” radio show, which led him to tour theatres across the country with the “Friends of Bob and Tom Comedy Tour”.

Greg Warren hails from St. Louis, MO, where his father was a high school wrestling coach and his mother made him play clarinet in the band. Greg has captivated audiences with anecdotes about the conflict inherent in meshing two high school identities—varsity wrestler and band geek. Greg’s “Flute Man” bit is a perfect capsulation of the insecurities of high school and the ongoing quest to be cool, and is one of the most requested bits in the history of the “Bob and Tom” radio show. Greg was also a West Point Cadet, where he distinguished himself by amassing an impressive tally of demerits and endless hours of pointless marching. After moving on to the University of Missouri, he studied journalism and was named an All-American college wrestler.

While in college, Greg won a comedy contest and was invited to perform at a local club in Columbia, MO, Déjà Vu. After a stint selling Jif and Pringles for corporate giant Procter & Gamble, Greg made the decision to become a full time comedian. This bold move led to an invitation to the prestigious “Just for Laughs Festival” in Montreal in 2002, where Greg performed as one of their featured “New Faces of Comedy”. He has also been seen on the Comedy Central show, “Premium Blend”. Greg has an arsenal of characters that he brings to life in his act. He also highlights his current life struggles with the service industry, moderation, and “One Star People”.

In addition to his television and festival appearances, Greg can currently be seen on Comedy Central Presents, heard on Sirius/XM Comedy and will continue to tour across the country with “Bob and Tom’s All Stars” in addition to performing his act at Improvs and Funny Bones. Greg’s background recently resulted in a gig doing color commentary on college wrestling for Fox Sports Midwest. Greg’s Midwestern upbringing and his ability to provide humorous social commentary gives him a wealth of material that continues to gain him fans throughout the country.

Crackers Comedy Club Downtown Presents Dave Landau

Working the road nonstop since his 21st birthday, Dave Landau has grown into a true comedic juggernaut. Finding himself much in-demand among audiences and club owners due to his deadpan demeanor and those jokes — my God, those jokes — that fluidly fly forth with breakneck pacing and perfect timing. Dave, it can be said with all due respect, is a throwback to another era of comedy. The entertaining everyman. Innocent enough at first blush; as he states his case, you begin to see where you and he have quite a bit in common. A wife, a house. An odd sense of calm in an increasingly crazy world. You’re on a tour of the familiar and prosaic, with Dave Landau as the bus driver.

Then he drops his foot on the accelerator. And things start to get wild. You see, Dave Landau might appear to be just like you, but he’s not really. His mind goes to places that angels would fear to tread, and he has no problem telling you about it. The mark of a great comedian, it is said, is the ability to find jokes where others would find tears. Dave find jokes everywhere; with his own foibles and faults, to his family, to pop culture and the state of the world today.

Cutting his comedic teeth as a teenager in Detroit in the Second City’s Conservatory, Dave Landau has risen to become one of the most in-demand headliners working today. He’s appeared on Comedy Central’s “Live At Gotham” as well as being featured prominently on two consecutive seasons of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” He’s become a regular on the nationally-syndicated “Bob & Tom” radio show, and was honored as one of the top 21 club comics of today at HBO’s Las Vegas Comedy Festival.

Crackers Comedy Club Broad Ripple Present Dan Cummins

In the last five years, Dan Cummins has released two critically and commercially successful CDs on Warner Brothers Records, Revenge is Near, and Crazy with Capital F, both debuting in the top 10 of the Billboard Comedy Charts, and both making numerous year end top 10 lists, including Itunes Rewind’s Best Comedy CDs of 2010.

He’s also toured relentlessly, bringing his jokes to over 200 colleges, clubs, theaters, and the world’s most prestigious comedy festivals, including two trips to the Montreal Comedy Festival. In addition to headlining live shows from Maine to Alaska, Dan’s also made numerous televised stand-up appearances, including performances on The Tonight Show, The Late, Late Show, Last Comic Standing, and numerous Comedy Central programs, including both a half-hour special, Comedy Central Presents Dan Cummins, and an hour-long comedy special, Crazy with a Capital F. One of the most prolific writers on the national scene, Dan continues to craft new jokes and stories, and bring them to countless audiences in his quest to build a fan base large enough to pack clubs and theaters in whatever town he chooses to travel to, just to hear whatever he has to say. So do yourself a favor, and start listening.

“Revenge is Near announces the presence of a distinct voice in comedy. That’s not an easy thing to do right of the gate, but it’s the reason Cummins’ belongs alongside the other comics on this list.” – Patrick Bromley, from About.com’s “The Best Debut Comedy Albums of 2009″

“We love Dan Cummins, plain and simple. Crazy with a Capital F (is) another smart, endearing, and sarcastic soaked set.” – Punchline Magazine.com’s “The 10 Must Have Stand-up DVDs from 2010″

“Cummins’ comedy runs more on bizarre than classical, more on oddity than traditional comedy. And thank goodness for that — good comedy thrives on the new, on the fresh. Too many comedians, after all, articulate what “everybody else is thinking.” Cummins says what nobody else but him is thinking.” – The Inlander’s review of Crazy with a Capital F, by Daniel Walters

“Here’s why we dig Dan Cummins: We’ve seen a table full of Blue-Collar-Comedy fans elbow to elbow with college-aged hipsters and all of them were doubled over in laughter at the same Cummins bit. That’s not always easy to do. The fact is, Cummins smartly writes to a broad audience, but his own intelligence and cleverness never gets lost in the mix. As a result, comedy nerds can still geek out on subject matter or how a phrase is turned. Top it all off with a giant dollop of unassuming likability. We say it’s a win.” – Lastgascomedy.com
