Crackers Downtown Presents Jeremy Essig and Michael Paramore

The fantastic comedy of Jeremy Essig and Michael Paramore will be all over our Downtown Stage from Wednesday July 17 through Saturday July 20.

Jeremy Essig is the former bass player and guitarist for late-90’s (way) underground bands Box of Rocks and The Flaming Moes.

To many, however, Jeremy is best known as a stand-up comedian and writer. His comedy, described in NUVO magazine as “Intelligent Cynicism,” walks the line between “smart” comedy and mindless indulgence. In a matter of minutes, Essig can move seamlessly between current events and kitchen appliances, weaving the two together with a nod to his love of pop culture.

Essig has released three comedy albums that have appeared on XM/Sirius Satellite Radio as well as on his own Pandora Channel. He has also appeared more than fifteen times on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom radio show as well as multiple times on National Public Radio.

An accomplished writer, Essig has also had pieces appear in the Columbia Missourian, Riverfront Times and Louisville’s Leo. A graduate of Wake Forest University and Ohio native, Essig moved to St. Louis in 2004 where he became a fixture in the city’s thriving comedy scene.

St. Louis Magazine dubbed him a “comic to watch” and KDHX’s “Slip of the Disc” radio show featured his segment “Six Degrees of Tommy Stinson,” a celebration of Essig’s love of music and trivia.

Comedian Mike Paramore has been cracking jokes since grade school. But he’s come a long way since his class clown days in his home town of Cleveland, Ohio. Having started in the church and gaining experience working through the Mid-West amateur comedy circuit since 2007, Mike has performed and competed in various venues; including being runner up in the Columbus FunnyBone ‘Funniest Person in Columbus’ 2007 contests, a finalist in the Go Bananas competition and named Mountain Dew comedian of the week in 2008.

Being a former featured comic for Time Warner Cable OnDemand, Mike was bitten by the action bug as an actor of the annual play ‘Hell Bound’. Using that natural style comedy afforded Mike the opportunity to opening for Comedians like Earthquake, Conon writer Deon Cole, Damon Williams, and Comedy Central’s Kyle Grooms and Steve Byrne.

In addition to performing at the 2010 Stellar Awards Mike was also a part of the 2012 Just For Laughs Festival in Chicago. As Senior Artistic Director of Good Jokes Live! Comedy & Improv – a complete show featuring a stable of comedian, improv and sketch comedy, since 2007; Mike also is currently expanding the sources of laughter through working as Comedic Director for vesselvibemag.com – an online urban Christian culture and lifestyle publication.

This week is going to be great. Snatch up your tickets here.
